Pacemaker
Cie Dissociée
In a performance that combines bouffon, installation, and physical experience, Brazilian artist Marcelo Nunes seeks to challenge the boundaries of what we are able to see and feel.
Pacemaker is a both raw and poetic performance about confronting fears and breaking free from the restrictive chains of normality. In this piece, Marcelo Nunes blends fakir art and bouffon, the darker cousin of the clown. A bouffon is a subversive and grotesque form of clown that mocks societal norms and injustices by pushing the audience out of their comfort zones.
Marcelo began his professional circus training at the National Circus School in Rio de Janeiro in 2009 and later continued his studies at Lido in Toulouse. He is a co-founder of the French company La Barque Acide, where he has participated in several performances. In his artistic work, he seeks sincerity through physical expression and sensation.
Marcelo Nunes was recently selected a finalist in Circusnext, the European support platform for the next generation of circus authors.
Observe that the performance is presented as part of a double bill together with Konsertti – two performances, one ticket. The festival bar opens one hour before, and is also open in between the the performances.
